Presented in 1979 and delivered for the first time, just over 1400 copies were produced from the International 1255 until its end of production in 1992. Its IH-6-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine drew a continuous output of 125 HP from 5.9 litres and had direct injection and turbocharging. With a net weight of 5550 kg, the 1255 had a permissible total weight of 7 tonnes. From 1983, only export versions without cabin were produced under the type designation 1255.
